Murder in the Delta: The Emmett Till Story by Michael Joseph Miller I found to be a must "read" book, containing a wealth of knowledge not only about the murder of Emmett Till, but about the lives of the people who lived in the Delta. I compare it with Spike Lee's film Four Little Girls, which recounts the murder of the four girls who were killed in the bombing of the church in Alabama. In both, they talked to people who were actually involved in the cases. By him going to the places where the events actually occurred, Michael Miller gives you a feel of the people, their thoughts and the times in which they lived. He brings up points in his book, that I had not previously thought about. One being that the murder of Emmett Till was not just about racism, it was about fear, fear of desegregation of schools and the way some people in Mississippi felt about it, it also showed that young people from the north did not really have a understanding of how things worked in the south. I found this book to be very informative about life in the Delta, and the courage that it took for black people who lived there, and the black and white press to stand up and reveal the truth of what happened to Emmett Till.

I've never read the story of Emmett Till so vivid and eye opening, this book woke up something inside of me. It had me wanting to read more. The way society was then and the way society is now I believe that all adolescents and young adults should read this book it will place something on their mind....
super author, very interesting book that was very well researched a true story of how a 14yr old child was sooo brutally beaten and murdered by white men just because he was black and he whistled.....should be a must read for young adolescents simply because we are still living in that time....
I've read this book before, however this author ignited my senses as if I was there while it was happening. He captured the full essence of this tragedy that occurred on American soil, that we are still encountering in different ways today. This is a MUST READ and all of our children should know the true history of this country and our people that are still trying to survive in it.
This book is so disturbing. It depicts so much hatred all because of the ethnicity of people. Sad!
I downloaded the digital version of this book and was looking forward to immersing myself in this important time in our nation's history. Upon reading the first couple of pages, the incorrect punctuation - commas out of place, semicolons used improperly -was so prevalent that I had to put the book down. The occasional grammatical error is understandable but these errors are so distracting that they disturbed the flow of the book and I was unable to continue reading.
